Petah Tikva: A Family Resort – Creative Planning for an Urban Garden Apartment

In this project in Petah Tikva, we transformed a garden apartment into a multi-layered hosting and leisure space. The main planning challenge was the narrow, elongated layout of the exit from the living room, which led toward a wider side area. The goal was to create a functional garden that would serve the family year-round, while making maximum use of every centimeter.
To address this challenge, we chose a planning approach that pushes boundaries through built-in, integrated furniture, utilizing every centimeter in a smart and precise way. Along the perimeter of the garden, we built a complex system of planters that functions not only as a planting element but also as the structural base for all seating areas, thereby freeing the space for movement and relaxed use.
As part of this system, we incorporated a built-in bench that serves as a dining table, and continued with the design of a built-in seating area—an intimate outdoor living room located in the wider part of the plot, turning it into the main hosting focal point.
Adjacent to it, a dedicated culinary zone was defined, including a wood-fired oven and a fire table that also serves as a coffee table, transforming the rear section of the garden into the beating heart of the home.
The entire planning process was carried out with a broad family-oriented perspective: for the children, a custom-designed, tall ninja play structure was planned, making use of vertical space without taking up valuable floor area, while at the same time a concealed and organized service area was allocated for storing bicycles, cushions, and chairs, allowing the garden to maintain a clean and orderly appearance throughout the year.
The space is enveloped by lush planting on all sides, creating a complete green buffer from the surrounding buildings and providing a sense of privacy, quiet, and surprising detachment in the heart of the city.
