The German Colony, Jerusalem: A Penthouse as an Urban Retreat

In the heart of Jerusalem’s historic German Colony neighborhood, among picturesque stone buildings and a nostalgic atmosphere, lies a unique penthouse that serves as an “urban retreat” for a family seeking tranquility.

The guiding concept was to create perfect harmony and visual continuity that blurs the boundaries between the interior of the home and the surrounding landscape and architectural design, emphasizing the creation of a dynamic living experience that changes throughout the hours of the day and across the shifting seasons.

The outdoor space was meticulously planned and offers a variety of hosting experiences, including intimate seating areas in a classic Jerusalem style.

To ensure a central gathering point around the table, a pergola system was installed, allowing comfortable seating during Jerusalem’s rainy summer days as well as its cold winter months.

The selection of colors and materials was made in full coordination with the interior design, so that the exterior functions as a direct and natural extension of the home, enhancing the sense of spaciousness.

The entire composition is wrapped in carefully selected local greenery, providing the structure with a fresh, natural frame throughout the year.
