Project: Plot 400
The Brief
The clients envisioned a garden with a distinct European ambiance, intentionally moving away from the traditional lawn-centric design. The goal was to create an atmospheric outdoor space that feels curated, intimate, and evocative of classic continental gardens.
The Concept: “Outdoor Rooms”
The architectural solution was to divide the garden into a series of interconnected “rooms,” each tailored to a specific function—from serene seating areas to dedicated play zones.
Flow and Connectivity: These rooms are linked by open pathways, guiding movement through natural corridors of mature trees and pergolas draped in climbing plants.
The Element of Discovery: The transitions between spaces create a sense of depth, establishing a continuous dialogue between the different areas of the garden.
Planting & Materials
To achieve the authentic European aesthetic, we selected materials and flora that offer texture, durability, and seasonal interest:
Hardscape: The original flooring was replaced with Italian Tufo stone. This choice anchors the design, providing a warm, rustic foundation that brings a sense of Old World charm to the landscape.
Softscape: We curated a palette of hardy, resilient flora, with a focus on deciduous trees. This ensures the garden remains dynamic throughout the year, celebrating the dramatic transitions of the seasons—from vibrant autumn foliage to the architectural beauty of winter silhouettes.
